Growing up I was incredibly active. Running & biking around the neighborhood, doing gymnastics with friends, swimming at the pool and playing field hockey from middle school through high school. Once I went to college, however, my fitness level diminished greatly and now I live a fairly sedentary life, even with 2 young children.
So in the last 2 years Matt has become addicted to running. He has run 2 marathons and is going to begin training for another (after healing from knee surgery to remove a loose fragment of cartilege). So I've been bit by the running bug too, but I can't seem to get myself motivated to stick to a schedule and keep up with it. I'd like to be able to get up in the morning and run before anyone else gets awake, but with my schedule that requires I get up at 4:30 to get a run in and be back to shower around 5:00 or so (the joys of curly hair and having to air dry.....I need to allow time for that to happen). Evenings are difficult because the kids want to play and would want to run with me, plus Matt usually runs in the evenings, so one of us needs to be around to watch the kids.
I NEED to find a different way. I was going to get up this morning and go, but just couldn't peel myself out of bed. So, instead of starting my day off with a kick-butt workout, I'm fighting feelings of being a running failure. I am, however, determined to make it work, so I'm still trying to figure out how............just have to get creative I guess!
